This remarkable barn conversion in rural Warwickshire presented a unique opportunity to honour the character of a historic agricultural building while creating a contemporary family home that feels both grand and intimate. The soaring vaulted ceilings, original arched doorways, and exposed structural timbers provided an extraordinary canvas for a design that bridges centuries of craftsmanship.
Our brief was clear: create a home that celebrates the barn's heritage while meeting the needs of modern family life. Every design decision was made to complement the building's natural drama — from the bespoke library wall that turns a double-height space into something truly magical, to the carefully chosen teal and sage palette that brings warmth without competing with the architecture.

The clients had fallen in love with the barn's dramatic proportions and original features, but the space felt cold and impersonal. They wanted a home that felt warm, inviting, and genuinely liveable — a place where the family could gather, entertain, and enjoy the surrounding countryside. The challenge was to introduce colour, comfort, and personality without diminishing the barn's architectural impact.
We developed a palette rooted in deep teal, sage green, and warm neutrals — colours drawn from the English countryside visible through every window. The bespoke floor-to-ceiling library wall became the centrepiece, with a rolling brass ladder adding both function and theatre. Furniture was chosen for its sculptural quality, with curves and soft edges to contrast the barn's angular architecture.
The finished spaces strike a rare balance between grandeur and intimacy. The library has become the family's favourite room — a place for reading, conversation, and quiet evenings by the fire. The main living area, with its vaulted ceiling and original arched doorway, now feels like a space that has been lived in and loved for generations, despite being entirely reimagined.
